ALL ABOUT TIME
Area's to be changed for October 8, 2000 event.
-
We will have an early bus pick up for the early starting Marathon Walkers.
-
We will have enough race bib pins. No excuse for running out.
-
We will anticipate more water and beer for hot weather.
-
We are going to try to add a loop off the side of the course, maybe into
the Valhalla historical estates, along the
lakefront and then back out to the bike path and on to the finish.
Other Race Day Notes:
-
We had
a 23% increase in entries over last year.
-
When our
Picnic Director, Judy Riva, went to Raley's Super Market, here in
South Lake Tahoe, they refused the Marathon credit card. Instead they donated
all the picnic food to the Marathon. Next time you need to go to the grocery
store, think of that. Raley's has always been the community store, rather
than the corporate store.
-
On the
other hand UPS left our Half Marathon special top 25 award shirts on their
loading dock in Alabama for 9 days, arriving the day after the marathon.
They had the opportunity to ship them here on Friday but said they couldn't
do it. They also refuse to pay for reshipping of the shirts to the 50 men
and women who finished in the top 25.
-
You may
read the newspaper account of the marathon in the Tahoe Daily Tribune on
the web. The Tahoe Daily Tribune has been a sponsor of the marathon from
the beginning. Click on www.Tahoe.com.
images of the event will be on www.virtualtahoe.com
soon, if not now. Thanks to Brain Williams.
-
Marathon posters are
still available, as well as maps, and logo polo shirts, sweat shirts, and
baseball caps.
-
We will
be printing more T-shirts and mailing them out to those who registered
late.
-
Four weeks before race day the original
timing company canceled out. Its About Time came to the rescue as did Do
It Sports, our on line registration company. The two companies worked together
to pull off the registration and timing of this race. The Lake Tahoe Marathon
is grateful for their can do spirit on such short notice.
Katie Gengler, first runner to cross marathon finish line.
