You may also pick up and use the special discount from several other airport locations. A Hertz rental car would probably be best for sightseeing. For the best fare, reserve and buy your tickets early as the cheap seats on each flight go early. Prices go up inside of 14 days and severely up inside of 7 days. The lowest fares are usually if you fly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Red eye flights (after 9 p.m.) and early morning flights are cheaper. Prices on Friday and Sundays are usually higher.Air fare sales are usually after each major holiday. For summer travel, the best fares are usually on sale around Washington's Birthday or just after Easter.
AIR TRAVEL should be made into Reno which is 1 hour and 10 minutes from South Lake Tahoe and 45 minutes from Tahoe City. Sacramento is 2 hours away and San Francisco is 3 1/2 hours away.
