The Cal-Neva Marathon is a boutique marathon limited to 100 runners. It is run as part of the Tahoe Triple. The course starts at Sand Harbor, Nevada, which is south of Incline Village, and ends near Meadow Road & H89 just south of Homewood, CA. This marathon can be run a la carte or as part of the Triple Marathon.
Shuttle buses will take you to the start line, leaving from next to the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel at the Stateline Transit Center, 4114 Lake Tahoe Blvd, SLT, CA Post-race transportation is not included, so you will need to arrange your own transportation after the run. A support crew is strongly suggested for your transportation needs, encouragement, nutrition and picture taking. However transportation can be purchased at the Expo or on line when you register for $12 back to the Expo, but not back to the Sand Harbor start. There is public transportation on TART back to the Carnelian Bay start line. There will be at least six Aid Stations along the marathon route, approximately every 4 miles. Finish line is just south of Homewood. TV Cam at Obexer's Marina at Homewood.
The Friday Cal-Neva Marathon is the fastest and flatest of the 3 marathons. The second half of the marathon is the "Carnelian Bay Half Marathon" that starts at Carnealian Bay. The first part of the Marathon is in NV and the balance is in CA, meaning it can be counted for either state in your quest to run all 50 states.
The views of this race are incredible, starting at Sand Harbor and running along the lake counter clockwise. The Cal-Neva Marathon starts at about 6230' and ends at lake level, near 6230'.
There is a different finishers medal for each race, each day, and finishers license plate holders awarded at the finish. Travel bags and tech shirts will be awarded at the Expo only. There is an overall award for each of these races, but no age division or other awards will be given to these boutique races.
You should use a headlamp for the first hour of the race and safety flashers. Drop off headlights at the first aid station and you can retrieve at the finish line.
You will receive:
- All finishers get a beautiful finishers medal
- All finishers get a license plate holder and a travel bag at the finish line.
- All finishers get a beautiful long sleeve technical t-shirt at the finish line, which will be great for you winter training runs.
