Addiction triggers
Working as a paramedic and dealing with overdose calls almost daily. It's heartbreaking but also triggering for me since I'm in recovery myself. Sometimes I get home from a particularly bad call and all I want to do is numb out the images in my head. My supervisor doesn't know about my history and I want to keep it that way. Learning that being around addiction-related situations can be a real trigger even when you're trying to help

First responder in recovery here too. Those OD calls hit different when you've been there yourself. Have you tried EMDR therapy? Really helped me process the trauma without relapsing. Also found a support group specifically for healthcare workers in recovery - we meet online so it's anonymous. The job's hard enough without carrying it alone
